You no longer have to rely on a Chinese take away when you can make this delicious dish in little time..This easy and quick recipe features a sweet and spicy sauce which will be used to toss the fried shrimps. You can try other variations with Tofu and Vegetables. Hope you like this!

Shrimps in Sweet and Hot sauce – Quick Recipe


  • 250g Shrimps cleaned and deveinned
  • 2tbsp corn starch
  • 3tsp honey
  • 3tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1tsp chopped garlic
  • 1tsp chopped ginger
  • 1tsp chopped scallions
  • 1tsp chopped green chillies
  • 2tsp cayenne pepper/paprika/red chilli powder
  • 1tsp chilli vinegar
  • Oil as required
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required for the sauce


Step 1

Coat the shrimps with salt and corn starch. Add more corn starch if required.

Step 2

Shallow fry the shrimps, 2 minutes on each side. You can fry all at once or divide them into batches if your pan is small. Keep the fried shrimps aside.

Step 3

Prepare the sauce by combining honey, dark soy sauce, salt, vinegar, garlic, ginger , sacllions, green chillies, paprika, corn starch and water.

Step 4

In the same pan, add the sauce and let it simmer for couple of seconds /until thick enough to coat the shrimps. Now toss the fried shrimps in the sauce and serve hot.
