Potato croquettes

A mildly spiced potato croquette, serves best as a starter any day. Its very crispy from out and mushy soft inside, tastes better with any dips. If you prefer you can replace the cooked potatoes with  minced meat for extra flavour.


  • 1 large boiled and mashed potato
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp herbs
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic
  • 2 tsp chopped green chillies
  • 2 tsp chopped spring onions
  • 1 tbsp ground pepper
  • 3 tsp milk
  • 1 egg - beaten
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • Fine ground bread crumbs - as required
  • Oil to deep fry / shallow fry


Step 1

Boil, drain and mash the potato. Allow the mixture to cool before adding other ingredients.

Step 2

Add the egg yolk, 2tbsp flour, salt, pepper, chilly, spring onions, milk, garlic (You can make it it extra spicy by adding spice powders). Mix it and refrigerate for 20 min.

Step 3

Then shape the mix into desired croquette shape & dip it in the beaten egg yolk, then the bread crumbs. If you want to shallow fry, slowly place them in a pan with required oil and cook until crisp on all sides.
